Digipack nearly finished part 2

Today i completed my digi-pack,i began by adding in the text on the back, i did this by choosing a font, then duplicating three of the same text, after i then change the colour of the three to make each different, then layer on top of one another to give it a 3d colour effect. I then continued to work on the CD cover, i began by getting the picture of a volcano and cutting it into CD, I then got the Magma text and pasted onto the CD cover. The inside cover i chose to do a design looking as if the text in falling down the volcano, like lava would, therefore i worked hard to create this effect. Creating this effect i got the picture of a volcano, i then faded the picture into the cover to match the colours, i then added the text and rotated the letters to look as if its falling. To complete the digi-pack i finally created the spine by putting the magma text on the spine along with the title and the CD disc logo, thus completing my dig-pack.

Digipack nearly finished

I've nearly completed my digipack, with the pictures i am going to show the process i went through to create my digipack such as effects, tools from adobe photoshop. I added in the spines of the digipack making them black to follow the colour scheme i am doing, i also put the back of the digipack icons on such as the parental advisory logos on and also a barcode.

Continued with Digpack

Today i continued with my digipack to try and complete it as i have been focusing on more practical side in recent weeks, therefore i decided to do quite a bit of work to get it completed. The screen shots below show how i created my inside plan of the digipack, with the picture of scale pattern i edited the colour to make it red and black to follow the contrast of colours with the rest of the pack, i then continued this by doing the same to the CD compartment but reversing the colours to make a change.

Rough cut of video

Working to create a roughcut?

Today, i wanted to continue with the music video, so with some of the footage i created a rough cut of the video to see how it would look with our shots, but also to work on the lip sycing aspect which looks quite hard to do well. I used footage along with our storeyboard to ensure i had something on the screen during the whole song...

Uploading and converting our clips

Today we uploaded all of our clips and ensured they were all converted into quick time movies to make it easier when process all of them into our final cut programme. First of all we continued the process of uploading each, then one by one we dragged each clip into the timeline, then to follow we converted the clip, labelled it and then deleted it from the timeline to convert the next clip.

Our screenshots below show our process of our we converted them

The screenshots below show our process of using and putting all our videos into final cut and show how we began..

Equipment and Props

When aquiring props such as glow sticks and our lighting equipment i asked a friend of mine if we culd borrow it for our filming which he kindly said yes. Our equipment included three sets of lights, one smoke machine and a disco ball, our filming equipment including to tri-pods, two cameras and an iphone to take photos. All of our equipment was put to good use and i believe we crearted a realistic, effective dance video.

Journal- 2nd Dance scene

Today we filmed the 2nd location, the dance scene. We started the day loading all of the equipment into the car and headed to school, when on arrival we carried all the equipment to the drama studio to set up. We set up of the the cameras equipment very early to prepare and be ready for when our actress and also our extras arrive. We first all of began with various shots of our actress hayley singing the song whilst dancing, this gave us the oppertunity to gather our shots we need and give a variety of shots to play around with.

Creating the Digipack

Today i began to create my digipack, using a rough guide i drew i used this as a structure to follow to ensure the digipack pans out the way i want it to. First of all i chose a volcano to appear on the front of my digipack, this to emphasise DJ Magma through the link between magma and a volcano. To begin with i dragged a six panel digipack outline into photoshop, this being the guidelines for me to help when putting the pack together and also being the correct size. I put the volcano onto the front of the pack, following with that i then adjusted the colour using light and contrast tool to darken the picture to sharpen and give the picture more emphasis on the colour. I then search through numerous amounts of fonts to find one that i wanted to reflect a bit burnt like it would be from contact with lava from a volcano and to continue with the theme of the volcano, once i chose the font i placed it in the center and created a thin second layer to make it slightly 3D with a yellow colour behind.
Next i dragged in the next picture of a volcano erupting, this to follow and continue the same colours on the front cover so it don't look odd. Once putting the picture in i then went to focus back onto the front cover, using a disco ball i placed it faded on top of the volcano giving the illusion of the ball coming out of the volcano, this i created to indicate its a digpack CD for a disco genre. Once that was complete i then dragged in DJ Magma, a boy from our sixth form who we interpreted as him. I cut our magma out of the background, then dragged him into the digipack, i then readjusted the size of magma and place him in front of the disco ball showing he is the main person.

Starting my Digipack

Today i started to think about an idea to create for my digipack, i gathered a lot of pictures from google to follow a theme of volcano and lava; DJ Magma and looked at how i could create a vibrant colourful digipack but using the lava colours of a red and orang type. Here are some of the pictures i downloaded to experiment with.

Getting a dress

Today Me and Tommy went up to Bluewater to get the dress we need to do our shoot for the night club scene, therefore we went to numerous shops to have a look. After a while we were getting very frustrated because we could not find a dress, therefore we resorted to going on ebay and ordering a dress of a shopping website which we were very happy with. The dress itself is a cocktail dress, its yellow with sparkly sequins to give it a glowing effect as very as the sparkle.

Journal- Uploading

Today in our double lesson as a group we had my laptop to upload our footage, the five of our videos whilst we were up London varied in length as shown on our shooting log therefore the time varied to how long they took being uploaded, once we had set the laptop to upload we continued to work on our digi-pack ideas, as a group we had a good concept but had to make changes for each of ours to be different from one another. I believe our group is very competitive and this therefore will lead to our group wanting all of our project in every aspect to be perfect,a digi-pack is one that we want to make ours the best.

Review of 1st shoot

When making our way to the shoot we were really excited bout shooting because we have had a picture in our heads for months and to finally film felt so good. We started filming near the eye to begin with to get the sun going down in the distance behind, this shot was filmed on my camera for two hours continuously, we really enjoyed it till about an hour when we was all wanted to move because of the freezing weather. My camera run out of battery after two hours, therefore we completed, packed away and moved on to our next part, whilst waiting for the film Tommy noticed over the wall a merry go round, we then decided to go round and film there for a while too, obviously i took one for the team and went on the ride. We then moved onto Westminster bridge for our next location, this went very well especially with the people walking in the shot, it shows London's popularity and busy streets reflect what we want to achieved, a well established, desired destination. Following the bridge we went and had a break with hot drinks but then came back to film Big Ben, a shot we really liked when researching and was really happy to find it. We at this point film my camera with footage and a tape of Tommy's, we had one more tape with an hours footage left, therefore we filmed Big Ben for an hour and completed the night with a beautifully lit shot of the eye and the museum. To sum up the shoot i really enjoyed myself and so did the group, it didn't help that Nick didn't feel to good because he had to stand around, but I'm glad and i feel Tommy and Nick are too because from seeing our footage we are really pleased.

Things we could of done better....
  • Took another camera for more footage to film.
  • Another battery pack to have more time for the footage.
  • make sure we have hats, gloves and something to keep us warm.
  • Food and supplies to keep us going and feel better.
Here are some photos...

First filming shoot

Today was our first filming shoot, we were very happy and pleased for the result once we uploaded, but the process was very tiring because it was freezing and we were standing for at least four and a half hours in numerous places the most being two and a bit hours, but when uploading the footage it was well worth it. To once again say our objective, it was to create a glamourous look with bright colourful and exciting to watch as well as the entertainment factor, i think with these shots, we can achieve this...

Route Plan for London Locations

As we would like to film in about four different locations, we decided to locate each place and link them to what places are close to one another, this creating a quicker time to get there and also more time to not get lost.. We planned by going onto google earth and locating where we where going to stand and film, we then identified where places where and created a route so we saved time for ourselves.

How to find our locations?

When wanting to find our locations to create our time-lapse as a group we decided to have a look at images on google, when getting more in depth with research Tommy suggested to go onto google earth to locate the exact points, this is good and accessible because of it being on the internet, its also free so we are taking advantage of our resources be as well prepared as we can be. Here are some pictures below from google earth that we found...
